BOND SURVEY: New High School Exterior Design
The newest bond survey question focuses on the statement of value and brand identity of the new Sherman High School. The statement of value anchors every aspect of the school and is a reflection of what we believe and want for our students, while the brand gives the campus its own identity.  Visit the Bond Website to answer the current questions.

Employee Transfer Window Open
Employees may request a transfer for the 2018-2019 school year until Friday, May 11, 2018. Employees may not request a lateral transfer for the 2018-2019 school year after May 11, 2018.  All lateral transfer decisions should be made by Friday, June 1, 2018. If you have questions about this, please contact the Human Resources Department at 903-891-6410.  Please visit with your supervisor prior to requesting a transfer. To submit a transfer request:

  1. Log into the Employee Service Center in TEAMS.  Your username and password are the same as your email and network username and password
  2. Click on My Employment Record.
  3. Click on My Employee Transfer Request.
  4. Click on the Job Category.
  5. Find the job(s) you are interested in applying for and check the appropriate boxes.
  6. Complete all tabs under Transfer Details.
  7. Click Submit.
  8. If you decide to make any additions or changes to your request, please make sure you remember to hit Submit each time.

Sherman HS hosts SAT School Day March 21
On Wednesday, March 21, Sherman HS will host its first SAT School Day. SAT School Day allows schools to offer the SAT to juniors and seniors in school, on a school day, ensuring students do not struggle with transportation or scheduling conflicts to complete their test. This program helps provide all students with the opportunity to show colleges they’re ready.

Sherman HS Power Lifters Statebound
Sherman High School  is sending two girls to state for the first time in program history after senior Andrea Torres and freshman Maria Lopez both qualified for state. Torres is the Regional Champion and  Regional record holder in the squat with 475 pounds. She is also the record holder in total weight, with 1,030 pounds. Lopez qualified for state on her final lift of the regional meet with her 350 pound deadlift. Congratulations!

Dillingham Future Problem Solvers Advance to State
Dillingham students Maddee Nunn, Kielee McClaran, Mackenzie Duncan and Aiden Bates, and alternates Landon Handlang and Shylyn Gasper advanced to state in the Future Problem Solvers program. Students are given a scenario involving a global issue and must identify challenges associated with the issue and come up with solutions in two hours. The team wrote on topics of disorders, including anxiety and PTSD. At state, the students will focus on cloud storage. Congratulations to these Future Problem Solvers!

Sherman HS Academic Team Advances to State
Sherman High School students competed in the Texas Association of Community Schools (TACS) Academic Scholarship Challenge at Peaster High School. Sherman HS swept the Division II - Area 7 Contest placing 1st, 2nd and 3rd. As a result, students earned post secondary scholarships. All three teams will advance to State competition April 8 in Belton.

Professional Learning

Online Master’s Program at UMHB
Are you interested in furthering your education? The MSEd in Sport Administration at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor is a completely online graduate program that prepares students for leadership positions in schools, athletics, industry, etc.  The program is designed to be completed in as little as one year if so desired. Those with a valid Texas teaching certificate, at least 2 years of teaching experience, and acceptance into the principal certification pathway are eligible to sit for the Texas principal certification exam.  UMHB does not require a GRE score as part of the admissions process. Sherman ISD schools will be closed for Spring Break March 12-16. Enjoy your break!

Staff Development/Student Holiday March 19
Sherman ISD will have a Staff Development/Student Holiday March 19. Be sure to check with your campus principal or department head on required trainings and work hours.

Pre-K, Head Start Early Registration continues
Early application for the FDECC Pre-K and Head Start/Early Head Start Program for qualifying students will continue March 8, from 8 a.m. to Noon, at the SISD Service Center, 2701 Loy Lake Road.

School Breakfast Week March 5-9
Eating a healthy breakfast is so important for students. Please help us celebrate National School Breakfast week March 5-9. As a reminder, breakfast is free or at a reduced price for eligible students.  
There will be hot or cold breakfast available daily with a choice of assorted fruits and milk. The Food Services Department will have promotional giveaways periodically during the month of March to help celebrate National School Breakfast.

Sherman Bearcat Baseball Alumni Game March 17
The annual Bearcat Baseball Alumni Game will be held March 17 at Veteran’s Field. Time and format will be determined based on number of participants. All former Bearcat baseball players are welcome. Contact coach Jeff Jennings at or (903) 891-6440 for information or to sign up.

Teacher Website Training March 22
The Communications Department will host Teacher Website training at Sherman High School Thursday March 22 at 7 a.m. and 3:20 p.m. Join Sean Vanderveer to get help with setting up your teacher webpage, making changes to your current page, or learning more about how to use the new website. DYK: Student Support and Engagement Department
Did you know the Sherman ISD Student Support and Engagement department supports staff and campuses with most issues outside of curriculum? The department, overseen by Assistant Superintendent Dr. Tamy Smalskas,  manages enrollment and registration, student attendance and discipline, Post-Secondary Readiness and Career and Technical Education (CTE), athletics, district communications, community engagement, counseling services, health services, Partners in Education, and supports the Sherman Education Foundation. In addition, the department oversees district policy, student handbook and code of conduct, parent and student complaints/grievances/concerns, transcript requests, and transfer requests.
