Sherman ISD Names Executive Director of Human Resources

Blake HaysSherman ISD is excited to announce that Blake Hays, an experienced school administrator and instructional leader, will continue serving the district as executive director of human resources. 

Hays, who has worked as director of secondary education for SISD since 2018, has been serving in the role on an interim basis since January.

He brings more than 30 years of experience in education, having started his career as a math, science and social studies teacher at the middle and high school level. He later worked as an assistant principal and principal at middle and high schools in North Carolina, Dripping Springs ISD and Comal ISD. 

In Sherman, Hays has supported schools with coaching and training to improve teaching, school operations and learning outcomes for students. He looks forward to continuing to positively impact student achievement by focusing on the development of the district’s workforce. 

“This role is an exciting opportunity to support our dedicated educators and staff and ultimately enhance the learning experience for our students,” Hays said. “I am committed to both taking care of the employees that we have, as well as exploring new and innovative ways to attract passionate individuals to our district and the teaching profession in general. Hays earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from The University of Texas at Austin,  master’s degree in school administration from Western Carolina University and superintendent certification from The University of Texas at Tyler. 

His wife, Aileen, works as the coordinator of counseling and student services for Sherman ISD. They have two adult sons.
