Sherman ISD is Offering Free Meals This Summer
Sherman ISD is partnering with the Texas Department of Agriculture this summer to feed local kids in need. The Seamless Summer Option program provides healthy, no-cost summer meals to children 18 and younger and enrolled students with disabilities up to 21 years of age. This program ensures students who rely on school meals during the academic year are provided a good source of nutrition all summer long.
“Sherman children need good nutrition year-round so they can learn, grow, and succeed in life,” said Tasha Alcala, Student Nutrition Director. “With nearly 80 percent of Sherman ISD students coming from low-income households, this program is vital to ensuring our students have access to healthy meals over the summer vacation.”
The Sherman ISD Student Nutrition Department prides itself on promoting healthy eating by providing a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables during the school year, which will continue over the summer.
There are no eligibility requirements to participate. Any child 0-18 years old or any enrolled student up to 21 years old can receive free meals. Meals must be consumed on site.
