School Board Approves Staff Bonuses for 2023-24 School Year
Employees returning to Sherman ISD in the 2023-24 school year will receive a $1,000 retention bonus in August 2023 as well as a $1,000 holiday bonus later in the fall.
The Sherman ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously March 27 to use federal relief funds to extend staff bonuses that have been paid over the last three school years.
In addition, the district will be able to offer additional compensation to new employees who join the Bearcat family next school year. New employees will receive a $1,000 sign-on bonus in August 2023 as well as the $1,000 holiday bonus.
Further, Sherman ISD is offering a $1,000 referral bonus for current employees who bring certified Texas teachers to work in SISD. To qualify for the $1,000 referral bonus:

Newly hired teachers must be fully certified in the state of Texas on the first day of instruction, August 14, 2023, and must be fully certified for the subject and grade level they are teaching.

The teacher must list the employee’s name as the person who referred them to the district when they complete their online application.

The teacher must start working in SISD by the first day of instruction.

Lastly, both the employee and newly hired teacher must still be employed by SISD on the last day of school in May 2024 in order for the employee to receive the $1,000 referral incentive.
Additional details related to staff compensation for the 2023-24 school year are still being determined and will be finalized when the Board approves the district budget in June.
