LadyCat Volleyball Receives District Honors
The Sherman High School LadyCat Volleyball team recently received All-District Honors for their performance on and off the court, taking home a total of 15 awards.
Junior Kate Foley was named 1st Team All-District and has been the varsity middle blocker for three years. Foley stepped up into a leadership position this season with other players absent.
"She was an outstanding player and leader for this year's squad and fun to watch," said Yolanda Beasley, Head Volleyball Coach. "Her leadership and skill set will be an integral part of the team next season."
Junior Camila Suarez was named 2nd Team All-District alongside fellow junior Kaiden Mullinix. Suarez has played for two seasons and has switched from right-side hitter to setter.
"Camila is a very exciting young lady to watch play," Beasley said. "She and Kate created a great one-two punch for our team offensively."
Mullinix has played for three seasons, but this season was her first in the role of outside hitter.
"She has a great jump float serve and an unassuming arm swing. She handles herself well when it may seem that she will be outsized at the net," Beasley said. "Young talent that's still developing is a great thing. I can't wait to see what these young ladies and their teammates do next season."
