Sherman ISD announced Thursday that Emily Tabar Cathey, a former reporter and anchor at KXII-TV, has joined the district as director of marketing.

A familiar face in Grayson County, Emily developed a love for the area during her time behind the news desk. She fostered a deep connection with the community as she covered the biggest local news events for the last three years, and will use her talents to enhance the district’s communications approach.

“Emily will be a dynamic addition to our communications team,” said Superintendent Tyson Bennett. “Her talents in visual media and marketing will be essential to connecting with all Bearcats and promoting our strong legacy.”

As director of marketing, Emily will promote Bearcat students, staff members and alumni, spotlighting Sherman ISD’s long legacy in education. She will also oversee the district’s social media and digital presence and drive community engagement through special projects and campaigns.

“I am thrilled to be a Sherman Bearcat and to join such a welcoming and thriving school community,” she said. “I can’t wait to spotlight the great things happening in Sherman ISD. These everyday moments shape our students and the future of our community.”

Emily holds a bachelor’s degree in multiplatform journalism from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She married her best friend in July 2022 and looks forward to raising a family and creating lifelong memories in Grayson County.
