Sherman ISD Board Members Sworn In During November Board Meeting

Wendy Velloti Sworn in as new SISD board member

Velloti Wendy Vellotti was elected to the SISD Board of Trustees on November 3, 2020. She graduated from SOSU with a bachelor's degree focused on education and served ten years as a preschool teacher and director of the School for Little People.

Due to her commitment to children's growth and development within SISD, she has served for many years in different capacities throughout SISD. Her volunteer list includes Dillingham PTA President, Piner PTA Vice-President, SHS PTA Secretary, SHS Band Booster President, SHAC committee member, Sherman Education Foundation member, and substitute teacher at many SISD schools.

Wendy and her husband, Chris, have raised three sons, Alex, Anthony, and Preston. They have lived and grown in our Sherman community for 21 years and belong to First United Methodist Church.

Her family enjoys adventures in Scouting, working at the Bob Skaggs Memorial Food Drive, and gardening on her farm, but their passion is watching SHS Band in the half-time show.

Chanel Stiggers Sworn in for second term as SISD board member

Chanel was elected to the school board in May 2017 and re-elected on November 3, 2020. She is a lifelong resident of Sherman and a 1992 Sherman High School graduate. She is the manager of the popular Sherman restaurant MG’s where she has worked for 25 years.

During her time as a board member, she has enjoyed working with each trustee and superintendent to ensure students and staff have what they need to be successful. As a mother of a Sherman ISD student and a proud graduate of Sherman High School, her time served as a SISD board member is a personal commitment to her son, Caleb, who is currently a sophomore at Sherman High School, and her community to ensure that all students receive a high-quality education.

Chanel has a daughter, Stachia, who is a 2013 SHS graduate and teacher. Chanel is a member of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church and can be spotted at one of her son's sporting events or volunteering at various events throughout the community.
