Earthwork Phase of Construction Begins for New Sherman High School

On August 8, 2018 Sherman ISD began the earthwork phase of construction for the new Sherman High School. The two to three-month process will consist of moving dirt and grading the site in preparation for paving and building later this year. Mass grading of the 100-acre site will involve moving dirt to support the building’s foundation, athletic fields, parking lots, and building structure, that will start to emerge in January of 2019.

In addition to starting the construction process, the district will finalize interior design plans for the new high school. VLK Architects recently presented exterior and interior design renderings of the campus, which included floor and wall patterns, paint colors, and carpet tiles. The design options will be presented to the Sherman ISD Board of Trustees at an upcoming board workshop.

With the excitement of the start of construction, the district is preparing to celebrate the momentous occasion. The official groundbreaking ceremony for the new Sherman High School will be held on October 1, 2018 at 6pm at the construction site, located at FM 1417 and OB Groner Road. Additional information with event details will be sent out at a later date.
