Girls Soccer Student-Athletes Honored With District, State Awards
More Ladycat Soccer student athletes received season awards this year than ever before, said Chance Hawkins, Head Girls Soccer Coach, with 17 of the 19 players making the Academic All-District 10-5A list.
"We are super proud of all the girls and their accomplishments this season," he added. "With a team GPA of 94, this is the highest in the last 4 years."
Brandy Moran, voted by the team as captain for the second year, made First Team All-District, and Riley Tillotson, who made Second Team All-District, led the team in points, a combination of goals and assists.
Emma Ford was named an Honorable Mention and played an important role at midfield and forward, said Hawkins. Kaley Wuestenfeld was key to the Ladycat defense and its midfield, and Ella Llerenas helped to lead the defense.
"Finally, Briany Mendoza, our goalie, started all 23 games, did a great job and played with tremendous effort all year long," Hawkins said.
