Sherman ISD announces departure of Communications Director Kimberly Simpson
After three years with Sherman ISD, Communications Director Kimberly Simpson will return to her hometown to serve as the Chief of Communications Marketing and Community Relations for Lancaster ISD.
Simpson joined the Sherman ISD team in July 2018 and immediately began transforming the district's communications department. During her tenure in Sherman ISD, she managed several projects within the department, including the launching of the Bearcat Pride Magazine, the Super 60 Video series, the weekly In the Know employee newsletter, and the Bearcat Connect Parent Newsletter. Her team also managed district-wide communication during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, she helped increase the district's social media presence on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter and led the Bearcat Branding committee for the new Sherman High School. Most recently, under Simpson's leadership, Sherman ISD's Communications Department received eight Star Awards during the annual Texas School Public Relations Association state conference, including the prestigious Crystal Commendation award for excellence in School/Community Partnerships.
"There are no words to adequately express my gratitude towards Sherman ISD for the opportunity to serve as Director of Communications. It has been great! I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in Sherman and appreciate the positive working environment that has allowed me to sharpen my skills as a school public relations practitioner and communications professional," Simpson expressed. "I am a better professional and person because of this school district, the exceptional leadership of my superintendent and friend, Dr. David Hicks, our Executive Leadership Team, our wonderful principals, SISD employees, and of course our students. It has been a pleasure to represent this school district as the spokesperson and leader through crises and many celebratory events. I truly wish Sherman ISD the best and will miss everyone."
Sherman ISD is grateful for Simpson's leadership and exceptional work ethic while in the district and wishes her the best in her professional career.
"I want to thank Kimberly for the excellent work she has done over the past three years. She and her team have produced top-quality print, digital, and video messages that have kept our community informed and have celebrated the incredible achievements of our students and staff," Dr. David Hicks said. "We wish her the best and will miss her, but I know she will always be a Bearcat at heart."
