Piner Middle School to Host Spelling Bee

Piner Middle School will host its annual Piner Spelling Bee on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at 3:45 pm in the campus library. All 7th and 8th-grade students are eligible to participate in the spelling competition. The first-place winner of the spelling bee will advance to the Grayson County Spelling Bee, which will take place Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at 1:00 pm at the Grayson College South Campus in Van Alstyne.

Piner students have been encouraged to participate in the spelling bee by their English and reading teachers. Study lists and resources that challenge students in word skills were given to students to help them prepare for the competition.

Seventh grade English teacher and spelling bee sponsor James Henderson says he’s excited to continue the tradition of spelling bees with Piner Middle School students. “I’m excited, and I enjoy seeing our students master new and difficult words that expand their vocabulary, reading, and writing skills.”

The spelling bee is open to the public to attend and will last approximately one hour.
