SHS Senior Recognized for Outstanding Academic Achievement

Leif Inocian was presented with a certificate by SHS Principal Scott Johnston and Counselor Mary Ann Hill.Sherman High School senior Leif Inocian has been named a Commended Student in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program. Around 34,000 Commended Students across the United States are being recognized for their exceptional academic performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

“I was kind of shocked, but I’m very proud,” Inocian said. “To be honest, I don’t expect a lot, but to have this honor and represent Sherman is amazing!”

Inocian is the sole Commended Student for the Class of 2024. After graduation, he plans on attending Texas A&M University or Austin College for either Pre-Med or biomedical engineering. He says he ultimately would love to be a neurosurgeon someday.

This year, he is taking six Advanced Placement classes and is part of Aviation Club. He plays violin and piano and is part of the Sherman Symphony Orchestra. In his free time, he enjoys watching Formula 1 racing.
