Welcome Back, Bearcats!
Dear SISD families, staff and community,
As we begin the school year, I want to take a moment to welcome you and to express my excitement for the year ahead. Our teachers and staff are ready and eager to serve nearly 7,900 students in our schools and classrooms this year.
The start of school is always a special time, filled with new beginnings, opportunities and experiences for our students and the entire school community. I am looking forward to a new role as superintendent of schools, following the completion of a required 21-day waiting period.
Across Sherman, there are signs of growth and change as the school district currently has four schools under construction. This includes the replacement of Crutchfield and Fairview elementary schools, a brand-new elementary at Heritage Ranch and the expansion of Sherman High School. In addition, the district is working to finalize construction plans for a new multipurpose stadium at SHS, and plans are in the works for a new early childhood center. These facilities will not only accommodate increasing enrollment but also provide innovative, engaging spaces for our students to learn and grow.
Our theme in Sherman ISD this school year is We Are Sherman #OneTeam, in recognition of our district unity and collaborative efforts. To achieve our goals, we rely not only on the passion and commitment of all our staff, but also on the partnerships we have built with families and the broader community.
We encourage parents and community members to stay engaged, communicate with our teachers and staff and get involved in our schools. Together, we can create a supportive environment in Sherman where every child can reach their full potential.
Whether you are returning to Sherman ISD or joining us for the first time, we are excited to have you as part of our Bearcat family. Thank you for your trust, support and dedication to our schools.
Sincerely,
Thomas O’Neal, Ed.D.
