Sherman ISD to Offer Free Breakfast and Lunch to all Elementary Students
All Sherman ISD elementary students will now enjoy free breakfast and lunch due to the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). The CEP, which will be implemented during the 2019-2020 school year, will allow campuses to serve breakfast and lunch at no cost to all enrolled students without collecting free and reduced lunch applications.
The Sherman ISD Food Service Department received approval to provide CEP for the next four years at Fred Douglass Early Childhood Center, all SISD elementary campuses, and Perrin Learning Center. The district will utilize the provision to alleviate the need for free and reduced lunch applications, improve health and wellness for students, and reduce financial stress on families.
“Our goal in the Sherman ISD Food Service department is to provide the best for our students, from their education to their health and general well-being,” Sherman ISD Food Service Director Mandy Stephens expressed. “This provision will enhance our efforts to provide all students with the nutrition and energy they need to achieve academic success.”
The following schools are qualified and will operate under the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP):
Crutchfield Elementary
Fairview Elementary
Fred Douglass Early Childhood Learning Center
Jefferson Elementary
Neblett Elementary
Sory Elementary
Wakefield Elementary
Washington Elementary
Perrin Learning Center
