Dr. David Hicks Named Lone Finalist for Northwest ISD Superintendent

Northwest ISD has named Dr. David Hicks, current Sherman ISD superintendent of schools, as the lone finalist to the same position at its school district. The hiring will become official following a state-required 21-day waiting period.

Dr. Hicks, who joined Sherman ISD in 2016, has successfully led the district through an era of unprecedented growth, uniting the community around a vision for a new state-of-the-art high school, opening a second early childhood center and an additional middle school, prioritizing prudent management of financial resources, and developing innovative instructional programs. SISD leads the way among local school districts with innovative and competitive compensation for employees and has partnered with city and county officials to attract top companies — including Texas Instruments’ $29 billion semiconductor production plant — to the area.

Hillary Clark, president of the Sherman ISD Board of Trustees, said that trustees will immediately begin the search for the next superintendent and they anticipate hiring a new leader before the end of the 2021-2022 school year.

“The crucial building blocks are in place, and the time will never be better for the next leader of Sherman ISD to take the helm,” she said. “Our board of trustees is grateful for Dr. Hicks’ leadership over the past six years, and we wish him the best in his new position. As a community, we can be very proud of the accomplishments of our students and staff.”
