Sherman High School Bearcat Patrol Recognizes Students with ‘STRONG’ Behavior

As part of Sherman High School’s STRONG program, students that have modeled excellent behavior and character are being caught by surprise by the SHS Bearcat patrol.

In a Publishers Clearing House format, district and campus administrators, teachers, students, and community members join the patrol to surprise each student at their home. Each student is presented with a banner and gifts donated by local businesses for their excellent behavior and representation of the STRONG program.

The STRONG program promotes student success outside of the classroom and focuses on student achievement, positive behavior, and growth in multiple areas. The word ‘STRONG’ is seen throughout the campus on posters and walls and is an acronym for Spirit, Tradition, Recognition, Organization, Never quit, and Growth.

Throughout the school year, teachers can nominate any student they feel exhibits any one of the STRONG characteristics. Names are submitted, reviewed, and selected by administrators who coordinate the Bearcat Patrol to surprise them. So far, the campus has completed two patrols for September and October and plans to continue their surprise patrols once a month until the end of the school year.
