Sherman ISD Names Director of Capital Projects

Brannon KiddSherman ISD is excited to announce that Brannon Kidd, a longtime school administrator with experience working on multiple design and construction projects, will serve as director of capital projects.

Kidd comes to SISD from Mason ISD, where he served as superintendent of schools. In all, he brings over 20 years of experience in education, with more than 15 of those in leadership positions.

He previously worked as an athletic director, middle school principal, and high school principal in ISDs in Weatherford, Springtown, Huffman, Cleburne, and Rains, as well as two districts in Kansas.

In those positions, Kidd worked directly on bond planning, facility assessment, design, and construction of both school and athletic facilities.

“Brannon has extensive experience in several different districts supporting and overseeing capital projects,” said Superintendent Dr. Tyson Bennett. “With numerous new facilities, additions, renovations, and upgrades planned over the next several years, Sherman ISD needs a dedicated person to manage our work with designers, contractors, and vendors to ensure our interests are always at the forefront, and we get the best value for Sherman ISD and our taxpayers.”

As director of capital projects, Kidd will make certain that building design and construction align with the needs of Sherman ISD students, educators, and the community. He will manage the schedule of construction projects and provide quality assurance and cost control throughout the process.

“It is the right time to bring Brannon on board as we hit the ground running with the 2023 bond projects,” Bennett said. “His leadership and experience will help ensure our projects are completed on time and under budget.”

Kidd earned his bachelor’s degree in social studies from Southern Methodist University and his master’s degree in educational leadership from Lamar University. He holds his superintendent certification from The University of Texas at Tyler.

“I am excited to get to work on all the improvements and new facilities coming to Sherman,” Kidd said. “It is an honor to be selected to help make these projects a reality for students, staff, and the community.”

Kidd grew up in Keller, where he had the opportunity to play football versus Sherman. He and his wife Christy recently relocated to Sherman to be closer to family. Christy is also a longtime educator and will join Sherman ISD as an educational diagnostician. Their daughter Kaitlyn is studying at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, and his son Koby will play football this fall at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls. Kidd’s brother Billy currently serves in a similar role as director of bond planning and construction in Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD.
