Sherman High Seniors Become Grayson College Grads

Did you know that Sherman ISD students have the opportunity to earn an associate degree at the same time as their high school diploma?

Paxson Wecker graduates with his associate of science degree

Nine members of the Sherman High School Class of 2023 are college graduates thanks to the Bearcat Collegiate Program. This program is a partnership with Grayson College to give high school students the opportunity to explore their academic interests while jump starting their college career.

Mea Benton is one of the nine, proud graduates.

On May 12, the following students graduated with their associate of science in general studies degree: Mea Benton, Aidan Cantu, Dane Casselberry, Malaysia Colbert, Kaelyn Olson, Kellan Poyssick, Tristan Quesada, Rowan Smart, and Paxon Wecker.

Kaelyn Olson is part of the first graduating cohort of the Bearcat Collegiate Program.

While SHS has had a small number of past graduates who earned an associate degree by the time they graduated from high school, this is the largest group to date and the first to do so as official members of the Bearcat Collegiate Program.

Malaysia Colbert shares her accomplishments and future plans with local news.
