Sherman ISD Honors Staff of the Year

Sherman ISD honored some of their best educators on May 9 and 10 with a little help from their family, colleagues and students!

Arielle Harmon, art teacher at Wakefield Elementary School, is the New Teacher of the Year. Harmon holds Art Club and Open Studio once a Week and has hosted student art events and galleries throughout the year for the community to attend. She was awarded $500 from First Texoma National Bank.

Priscilla Burns, music teacher at Neblett Elementary School, is the Elementary Teacher of the Year. Burns provides so many opportunities for her Neblett Knight Choir and Dynamite Drummers, and she served as a mentor for two new music teachers this year. She was awarded $500 from First Texoma and will drive a car from Sherman Chevrolet Cadillac for the next twelve months.

Melody Young, lead statistics and math teacher at Sherman High School, is the Secondary Teacher of the Year. Young focuses on student success and achievement, and on the 2022 AP Exam, all of her students scored 4 or a perfect 5. She helps her team by leading professional developments, and Young leads outside the classroom as the President-Elect for the statewide Texas Classroom Teachers Association. She was awarded $500 from First Texoma and will drive a car from Sherman Chevrolet for the next twelve months.

The Dillingham Elementary School Special Services Team is the Team of the Year and is comprised of Amy Lamondue, Emily Little, Sebrina Stiggers, Karen Harper, Jessica Creech, Jenny Jones and Julie Sharp. The Special Services team provides important programs to students like ESL, Challenge, Speech and more to Dillingham students and are focused on helping each student achieve their individual greatness. They were awarded $500 as a team from First Texoma.

Ilse Boone, PE instructional assistant at Crutchfield Elementary School is the Employee of the Year. Alongside her job as aide, she substitutes for classes and in the front office, and Boone regularly helps Spanish-speaking parents with questions or school information. As she's studying to become a teacher, Boone has even helped other teachers pull together materials for lessons. She was awarded $500 from First Texoma National Bank.

Eric Ross at Dillingham Elementary is the Volunteer of the Year. Eric worked with the Dillingham counseling team to create a lunch mentoring program for boys in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade. He's also recruited other men in the community to be mentors as well. As a Sherman alumnus, his focus is giving back to the schools that gave so much to him. He was awarded $500 from First Texoma National Bank.
