Sherman ISD and the Sherman High School Athletic Booster Club held a tree dedication Thursday, May 11 in memory of Dr. David Hicks and his legacy at SISD. Dr. Hicks was a great leader of the district and in the community, and he positively affected everyone around him.

The plaque at the base of the tree reads, "Dr. David Hicks led Sherman Independent School District through an era of unprecedented growth and united the community around a vision for a new state-of-the-art high school. A caring, servant leader, Dr. Hicks focused on excellence at the highest levels and brought individuals of all backgrounds together to engage in Sherman schools. He was the epitome of what it means to be a Bearcat."
