Santos Flores Named Principal of Sherman Middle School

Santos Flores

Sherman ISD is excited to announce Santos Flores, a trusted and experienced SISD campus leader, as the next principal of Sherman Middle School.

Flores is the current principal of Neblett Elementary, where he has served SISD students and staff since 2020.

While Flores has worked in elementary campus leadership since 2010, he is no stranger to education at the secondary level. He began his career as a math teacher at the high school level for five years and middle school level for six years before becoming a campus administrator. He is a former middle school mentor teacher, team leader, and Teacher of the Year. In all, Flores has nearly 25 years of experience in education.

“Mr. Flores has a strong instructional background at the middle school level, and he is a proven Sherman ISD leader and connector in our schools and community,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Tyson Bennett. “He already has existing relationships with many SMS students and parents, and I know he will build on those connections to achieve even greater success for our students and staff.”

Flores will finish the school year at Neblett before taking over for current SMS Principal Scott Johnston, who is moving to Sherman High School. Flores says he looks forward to building on the positive momentum Mr. Johnston has created at Sherman Middle.

“I am excited for the opportunity to work with older students again, including many who I already know from their time at Neblett,” Flores said. “I look forward to building similar relationships with all SMS students and families.

“The last three years in Sherman have been incredible, and I am proud of the work we have done at Neblett to improve academics and behavior. I am eager to build comparable levels of trust and rapport at Sherman Middle School to create a positive campus culture that benefits all students and their learning.”

Flores earned his master’s degree in education administration from Texas A&M University-Kingsville and his bachelor’s degree from Texas State University. He lives in Sherman with his wife, Alejandra, and two sons, Andres, 13, and Sebastian, 11, who are students in Sherman ISD schools.

Sherman ISD will immediately begin the search for another fantastic leader for Neblett Elementary.
