The State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) are an important opportunity for students to demonstrate what they have learned and to identify any areas that need improvement. The test results also help Sherman ISD evaluate its instructional effectiveness and provide feedback for improvement.

Parents can help support their children during STAAR testing in the following ways:

• Ensure they attend school on time

• Avoid scheduling any appointments or trips that would cause them to miss school or testing days

• Ensure they get enough sleep and eat a healthy breakfast on testing days

Please note Sherman ISD campuses will be closed to visitors on the following testing days:

May 4 - 3rd grade Math, 6th grade Math, U.S. History EOC
