Jefferson Elementary to Host Final Fiesta to Closeout School Year

Jefferson Final Fiesta Update- Tuesday, May 25, 2021, 1:45 pm

Due to the continued and unpredictable rains, Jefferson's Final Fiesta Program will now be inside our gym this evening at 6:00 pm.

Due to our gym space and capacity, the event will only be open for former Jefferson staff members, current Jefferson staff members, and our invited speakers. So, regretfully, our students will no longer attend the event. However, in preparation for a rain cancellation for students, we have pre-recorded a video of our student performances. The video will be added to this evening's program recording and then broadcast later on our Jefferson Facebook page.

We are disappointed we won't celebrate with our students as originally planned. Still, we look forward to welcoming the Jefferson alumni and former staff members to the campus this evening.

After a historic 125 years, the building known as Jefferson Elementary will transition to Jefferson Learning Center in August of 2021. To officially recognize the building’s final school year as an elementary campus, the Jefferson Elementary staff will host the Jefferson Final Fiesta Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at 6 pm.

“It’s going to be a beautiful celebration and a time for all of us to reflect on the many years this building has impacted the students of Sherman ISD,” Jefferson Elementary Principal Nancy Jung expressed. “We’ve worked diligently to close out this school year, ensuring that our students and staff had a great experience as Jefferson Eagles. It is a pleasure for us to host the final event for the community to pay their respects to Jefferson Elementary.”

The Final Fiesta will commemorate the 125th anniversary of the elementary school and highlight the rich history of Jefferson Elementary, past principals, teachers, and students that worked at and attended the school throughout the years. In addition, attendees will enjoy a student musical performance, and a fun and festive atmosphere on the campus playground.

Attendees are asked to bring a lawn chair or a blanket for seating, and face masks are required. For more information, please email sisdinfo@shermanisd.net.
