Perrin, Painting With a Twist adorn PLC campus

Student painting wall Have you ever heard that big things come in small packages? WOW! DOES IT EVER! Perrin received great news that a pleasant surprise will be delivered from a local art studio to get the students thinking creatively. Perrin Learning Center enthusiastically opened a large box of beautiful paintings from Painting With a Twist. Tedra Franklin, the owner, invited students to create a phrase or word for each painting that depicts their feelings on the topic of bullying or good citizenship. For example, students entries have been on courage, patriotism, and being your own hero. The students are very excited about this community project because not only will the top 7 students travel to Painting With a Twist where they will sketch their artwork on the canvas, they will get to keep their winning entry! You are invited to come out and view the halls adorned with signatures of our graduates that are on artfully painted trees.

    New High School Design Underway

About 50 students, teachers, and community members joined administrators and architects to begin the design of the new Sherman High School. The group reviewed information from tours of high schools across the state, taking note of features they liked for the new Sherman High School, then worked in groups to create site and building plans. As a whole, the committee agreed the new Sherman High School should have wide hallways, lots of natural light, and an eye-catching entryway that could be seen from U.S. 75. VLK Architects will take the groups favorite plans and provide renderings at its next meeting Jan. 25. VLK Architects expects to hold a groundbreaking for the new building in the summer of 2018. Anticipated completion of the main building is scheduled for Summer 2020. For updated information on the bond process, visit www.ShermanISD.net/bond.
