Twenty-Nine SHS Musicians Qualify for State
Congratulations to the Sherman High School band program as they competed at the UIL Region 25 Solo and Ensemble Contest in Plano!
Since the fall, these students have spent hours preparing for the contest. Students perform as individuals or as a group and are ranked by a panel of three judges in the following scale: Division I (Superior), Division II (Excellent), Division III (Average), Division IV (Below Average), Division V (Poor). The performance of the soloist, ensemble, or organization is the only factor considered when determining ratings. Those who receive a Division I rating advance to the state contest.
As a group, the band earned 28 Division I ratings out of 41 total entries on February 22. Members of the band received 41 Division I medals and the following students qualified to compete at the UIL State Solo and Ensemble Contest held in Austin this May:
