SISD Receives $2.6 Million STEM Grant from TI Foundation

Sherman ISD is grateful to receive a $2.6 million, two-year investment to expand STEM education and opportunities for students and teachers across the district. 

Funded by the Texas Instruments (TI) Foundation through Educate Texas, the TI Foundation STEM Implementation Grant will strengthen instruction, provide additional resources, and enhance hands-on learning for students in Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade. 

The grant will support the development of a comprehensive STEM ecosystem that prepares students for success in college, careers, and life. The initiative will strengthen conceptual math and science instruction, expand project-based learning and makerspaces, and build teacher and leadership capacity through professional learning. All students will have access to research-based foundational instruction, high-level STEM coursework, and endorsements at every level.

“STEM is not a curriculum. Rather, it’s a culture of teaching and learning,” said Abby Homer, Sherman ISD Coordinator of STEM and Federal Programs. “By laying the foundation for STEM culture across SISD, our students will build real-world problem solving skills, sharpen their curiosity and creativity, and equip themselves for modern careers.”

The investment is the start of a multi-year, collaborative process drawing on district, community and industry partnerships and will align student pathways with Grayson College, regional employers, and the region’s growing semiconductor and advanced manufacturing workforce to increase college and career readiness opportunities.

Educate Texas will provide professional learning, educator coaching, grant management, and data collection and analysis to support the districtwide STEM transformation in Sherman ISD. Denison ISD has also received similar grants from the TI Foundation.
