Portrait of Lori Hartman

Sherman ISD is excited to share that Lori Hartman, currently the assistant principal at Sory Elementary School, will step into the role of school principal.

Hartman is a dynamic and results-driven educational leader, focused on fostering a positive school culture and advancing student achievement.

She became assistant principal at Sory in 2020, helping to cultivate a leadership-focused environment for educators that positively impacted student growth and success. Her focus on campus engagement made a significant impact on teacher morale and retention.

A champion of the Leader in Me initiative, Hartman has played a pivotal role in enhancing both academic performance and campus culture. The Leader in Me framework encourages student involvement, fosters trust and equips students with essential leadership and life skills.

As she assumes the role of school principal, Hartman says she looks forward to building on the programs and partnerships that have made Sory so successful.

“Over the last five years, I’ve had the privilege of seeing firsthand the heart and spirit that make Sory so special, and I am truly honored to step into the role of principal,” Hartman said. “I am excited to continue the incredible traditions that define Sory, while building even stronger relationships with students, staff and families. Together, we will keep moving forward, helping every child grow as a leader and reach their fullest potential. I can’t wait to see all that we will accomplish as a Sory family!”

Before joining the team at Sory, Hartman spent 10 years at Washington Elementary as a music teacher, where she developed music curriculum and was awarded more than $15,000 in grants. She later worked as Washington’s instructional technology specialist and supported campus and district-wide technology integration and professional development.

Hartman received a bachelor’s degree in music education from Millikin University and a master’s degree in school administration from McKendree University.

She is married to Anthony Hartman, a former SISD teacher of 14 years who now serves as the Worship Pastor/Director of Creative Arts at Post Oak Fellowship. They have two sons, Miles and Owen, who attend Sherman ISD schools.
