Student Finishes 10th at Academic UIL State Meet

Sherman High School senior Matthew Garner placed 10th at the Academic UIL State Meet on May 19, closing a great run that included first place finishes at the District and Regional level.

At the District Meet, Garner placed first as an individual, and his team placed first overall to qualify for Regional. Garner kept his first place crown at Regional while teammate Santos Alba finished 11th, Benton Graham placed 17th, and Johanna Tobar Quintanilla finished 24th. The team finished second overall.

Other Regional qualifiers included Jacey Wiggains in Editorial Writing, who placed 6th, and Hein Htet in Literacy Criticism, who tied for 24th.
