Sherman High Teacher Named National Board Certified Teacher

Sherman High Teacher Named National Board Certified Teacher
Marsha Bayatfar, National Board Certified Teacher

Sherman ISD is proud to recognize an exceptional educator who has reearned National Board Certification, one of the highest professional distinctions in education.

Marsha Bayatfar, an AP Literature & Composition and English IV teacher at Sherman High School, was recently redesignated with National Board Certification. She is the only SISD teacher who has earned this nationally recognized mark of excellence in teaching, which represents more than 400 hours of rigorous work beyond the school day – something she has now accomplished twice.

“I’ve completed professional development and earned my master’s degree, but the process of National Board Certification has been one of the most meaningful experiences in further developing me as an educator,” Bayatfar said. “It’s deeply introspective and requires you to truly reflect on your practice.”

National Board Certification signifies a deep dedication to professional growth, reflective practice and student success. Candidates engage in an intensive process that includes analyzing student learning, reflecting deeply on instructional practice, recording and examining classroom teaching and demonstrating their impact through extensive written submissions. The process requires perseverance, discipline and a sustained commitment to continuous improvement.

“What drives me is seeing student growth, academically and personally,” Bayatfar said. “Watching them navigate life, even through struggles and challenges, and being able to guide them along the way is the most rewarding part of being an educator.”

Bayatfar brings 26 years of experience to the classroom, including the past seven years serving students in Sherman ISD. Her dedication to instructional excellence and student growth reflects the high standards of teaching and learning valued across the district.

“Marsha Bayatfar is an exceptional educator whose students are consistently engaged in rigorous learning experiences that prepare them for success beyond high school,” Secondary Curriculum Coordinator Mindy Rodriguez said. “She is a dedicated mentor and leader whose loyalty, care and commitment to both students and colleagues truly set her apart.”

Research consistently shows that National Board Certified Teachers positively impact student learning, and Sherman ISD is strengthened by educators like Bayatfar whose expertise and commitment elevate the classroom experience for students every day.

In addition, the accomplishment will qualify Bayatfar for Recognized status under Texas' Teacher Incentive Allotment, adding thousands of additional dollars to her salary.
