Special education services are also available starting at age 3 to children with disabilities based on each student’s individual needs following a referral, evaluation and determination of eligibility. In addition, bilingual and ESL programs support our youngest learners who are acquiring the English language.

Pre-Kindergarten and Head Start are offered at Fred Douglass and Perrin early childhood centers. Transportation is provided for free if the student lives more than two miles from the assigned campus. Early Head Start is offered at Jefferson Learning Center with transportation provided by the parent, or families can consider a more flexible program through Home-Based Early Childhood Education.
