District to Conduct Student Mental Health Initiative Survey

Sherman ISD has been chosen to participate in a transformative program offered through The Jed Foundation (JED) and AASA, The School Superintendents Association, called the North Texas District Mental Health Initiative.
As part of participating in the program, SISD is conducting a survey about student mental health called the JED Student Survey. All secondary students in grades 6-12 are being invited to participate in this survey.
Student responses will help improve understanding of how the district can support student mental health more effectively. Responses are anonymous and will be kept confidential and secure. Responses will not be connected with any student name, email, or any other identifying information. The survey will be administered to students on Feb. 25.
If parents would not like their student to participate in the survey, they can fill out this opt-out consent form by noon on Tuesday, Feb. 24. A student will be invited to participate if the district does not hear from a parent.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, you can contact the JED team at hsstudentsurvey@jedfoundation.org or SISD survey administrators Jenifer Politi or Aileen Hays at 903-891-6400.
The North Texas District Mental Health Initiative provides customized, strategic school mental health support and consultation by connecting school districts with national expertise and technical assistance. The program aims to help districts foster thriving, positive school communities and better support students experiencing mental, emotional, behavioral or developmental challenges.
