New Stadium Set to Open in Summer 2026

The Sherman ISD Board of Trustees approved a guaranteed maximum price for construction of a new stadium and related site improvements at Sherman High School on November 18.
The 8,000-seat stadium will be ready for student athletes, coaches and fans in summer 2026, three years sooner than the 2029 opening shared with voters prior to the 2023 bond election.
"This stadium will better meet the immediate and future needs of our growing athletics and fine arts programs as it becomes a great source of pride for our community," said Sherman ISD Superintendent Dr. Thomas O’Neal.
The stadium was designed by VLK Architects and the general contractor for the project will be CORE Construction. Work surrounding the existing athletic field at Sherman High School will begin this winter, with the goal of having the stadium completed by early summer 2026.
Athletics practices will continue to be held on site at Sherman High School. All competitions will be moved to Bearcat Stadium or other venues, except for baseball and softball, which will continue to play their games at SHS.
After the new stadium opens, historic Bearcat Stadium will continue to be used as Sherman continues to grow and the district expands.
