Final Varsity Game Shines with Fireworks
Bearcat fans packed the stands to help honor and celebrate Sherman’s rich history as the final varsity football game was played at Bearcat Stadium.
Sherman High School was victorious over Frisco Lebanon Trail 41-31 in the Bearcats’ last game of the season. A brief fireworks display after the game was sponsored by Covenant Development and the Sherman High School Athletic Booster Club.
Varsity football will move to a new, 8,000-seat stadium under construction at Sherman High School for the 2026 season. Bearcat Stadium will continue to be used as Sherman continues to grow and the district expands.
After the final varsity football game, members of the Sherman High School Athletic Booster Club shared these reflections in their Facebook group. We couldn't have said it any better!
“Under those lights, we’ve celebrated through victories and given hugs during heartbreaks. Families cheered, friends gathered, and lifelong memories were made. It wasn’t just a stadium… It was our home on Friday Nights. It’s hard to say goodbye to something that’s been a part of our lives for so long. But while we’re closing the book on one beautiful chapter, we’re also turning the page to a new one. We do it with full hearts – grateful for every memory, and excited for what’s ahead. Next fall, a new stadium will rise – built on the same foundation of heart, tradition, and Bearcat pride. Here’s to honoring the past and embracing the future – together. Hail to the school we love, here’s a toast to thee.”
