12 Commit to Pursue Fine Arts in College

Twelve Sherman High School students inked their signatures to continue fine arts at the next level during the Fine Arts Signing Day on May 1. As a group, the students have gathered nearly $270,000 in grants and scholarships.

Cesia Avila - University of North Texas

Cesia participated in band and choir and took AP Music Theory during her high school journey. She has been selected for past All-Region Choirs and advanced to the State Choir Solo & Ensemble Contest. She has earned the UNT Excellence Scholarship to pursue music at UNT.

Natalie Ball - University of Texas at Austin

Natalie was a member of the SHS choir and Bearcat Theatre Company, and honors include selections for All-Region Choir, qualifying for the State Choir Solo & Ensemble Contest and receiving OAP awards at the Zone contest. She is planning to study music at UT-Austin with the Texas Advance Commitment scholarship totaling $56,400.

Hayden Brem - Tarleton State University

Hayden participated in choir and theatre while at SHS. Honors include making All-State Choir auditions, qualifying for the State Choir Solo & Ensemble Contest and receiving OAP awards at the Zone contest. He has earned the Presidential Choir Scholarship to attend Tarleton.

Mariana Gonzalez - Austin College

While at SHS, Mariana was a member of the SHS choir and theatre. Honors include OAP awards at this year's Zone competition and advancing to the State Choir Solo & Ensemble contest. She has earned a musical scholarship to study at Austin College.

Aiden Hill - Oklahoma City University

Aiden participated in choir, musical theatre and One-Act Play during his time at SHS. He has been selected for the All-Region Choir and has advanced to the State Choir Solo & Ensemble contest. He has earned $96,000 in scholarships to attend OCU.

Madison Jakovac - Grayson College

Madison has been a member of choir, musical theatre, dance and AP Art while at SHS. Honors include OAP awards at this year's Zone competition and advancing to the State Choir Solo & Ensemble contest. She has earned a scholarship to attend Grayson College.

Emerson Johnson - Texas State University

Emerson participated in band and choir during his high school career. Honors include advancing to State Solo & Ensemble in both band and choir.

Rudy Parks - Southeastern Oklahoma State University

Rudy has been a member of the SHS band and earned a music scholarship to attend SOSU.

Louise Ramay - Tarleton State University

Louise has been active in musical theatre, choir and the color guard. Honors include State Choir Solo & Ensemble.

Sydney Sexton - Hardin-Simmons University

Sydney has been a member of the SHS band and the Sherman Hi-Steppers, serving as captain her senior year, and she has received several grants and scholarships totaling over $46,000.

Ellis Weinkauf - Hartwick College

Ellis participated in choir and theatre and has earned nearly $30,000 in scholarships. Honors include State Choir Solo & Ensemble and All-Region Choir selections.

Hope Young - East Texas A&M University

Hope was active in band during high school and will join the ETAMU band.
