Nine Sign to Pursue Fine Arts After High School

Nine soon-to-be Sherman High School graduates committed to further hone their fine arts skills at the collegiate level during the Fine Arts Signing Day on May 1.

Mauricio Canas - Austin College

Canas participated in the SHS choir during his high school career and will be joining the AC Choir come the fall. He has earned a music scholarship to attend AC.

Axel Carr - Gustavus Adolphus College

Axel was a member of the Sherman Hi-Steppers during high school and will be heading to Minnesota to attend Gustavus. Carr has earned the Evelyn Anderson Dance and Theater Scholarship available at Gustavus.

Giselle Centeno - University of Texas at Dallas

Giselle Centeno was a member of the Sherman Hi-Steppers while at SHS. She plans to join the UTD Power Dancers while attending.

Marayah Clark - Murray State College

While at SHS, Clark participated in choir and theatre, and while attending Murray, she plans to do the same.

Ambilynn Martinez - University of Oklahoma

Martinez was involved in band, orchestra and choir during high school. At OU, Martinez will be majoring in music.

Martin Ortiz - Collin College

Ortiz participated in theatre, choir and dance and was member of the Sherman Hi-Steppers, and he intends to join the Collin College Dance Company.

Hunter Thompson - University of Oklahoma

During his high school career, Thompson participated in band, theatre, orchestra and choir. He plans to major in music at OU.

Tucker White - Texas State University

White was involved in SHS band, theatre, orchestra and choir, and he intends to pursue choir, theatre and media journalism while at Texas State.

Jacey Wiggains - Harding University

Wiggains was involved in band during high school, and she intends to participate in choir and band while at Harding.
