SHS Additions Complete as Stadium Goes Vertical

SHS Additions Complete as Stadium Goes Vertical

An approximately 33,000 square-foot expansion project is complete at Sherman High School, providing students and teachers with some additional, much-needed classroom space.

The first of two three-story additions opened for the start of the 2025-26 school year in August. Teachers and students moved into the second three-story addition in mid-September.

In all, the expansion added 20 new classrooms to the campus, which opened in 2021. The design of the additions match the look of the existing building, making the additions appear seamless. The expansion allows SHS to serve about 525 additional students, bringing the school’s capacity up to approximately 3,213 students.

Stadium steel being placed at SHS

Approximately 900 new parking spaces are also being added to serve the high school and new multipurpose stadium, which is on track to open in summer 2026. Construction of the stadium is now going vertical with steel beams being added on site. The 8,000-seat stadium and adjacent site improvements will serve a variety of athletic and fine arts programs, including football, soccer, track and field, band, cheer, Hi-Steppers and more.

The construction projects were designed by VLK Architects and completed by CORE Construction. They were funded under the district’s 2023 bond program, approved by voters in May 2023.
