Class of 2025 Crosses the Stage

Class of 2025 Crosses the Stage
The Class of 2025 tosses their caps into the air.

With plenty of pomp and circumstance, approximately 527 Class of 2025 graduates from Sherman High School and Jefferson Learning Center crossed the stage May 23 at Bearcat Stadium.

This year’s graduating class has received nearly $5.9 million in college scholarships as they pursue their future goals.

"As we move forward into this new chapter of our lives, remember to pause and acknowledge the people who have helped you along the way," said salutatorian Zayd Boutkhil. "Teachers who believed in you, friends who stood by your side, or family members who made sacrifices so you could succeed. Gratitude keeps us grounded and serves as a reminder that we got to where we are because of those who care for us."

Already, this class has completed more than 1,000 college credit hours, and six have an associate degree from Grayson College.

"Authenticity will not only allow you to make better and deeper connections with people, but it will help you in the next steps of your life," said valedictorian Jacey Wiggains. "People can tell when you are authentic and are drawn to it."

Approximately 270 graduates have earned one or more industry-based certifications through career and technical education courses at Sherman High School.

"As you graduate today, I want to give you my slightly controversial take on how you should approach your entrance into adult life," said keynote speaker, Dr. Toni Harrison-Kelly, Class of 1993. She is the Director of Recruitment, Retention, and Alumni Affairs at SMU Simmons School of Education and Human Development. "It can be summed up in four words: keep that same energy."

The Class of 2025 has now conquered one journey, and we can't wait to see what's next!
