Free backpacks and school supplies, haircuts, community resources and more will be available at the Sherman ISD Back to School Bash in partnership with Cook Children’s on Saturday, August 1 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sherman High School. Attendees should park near the Competition Gym on the west side of the high school.

A total of 1,000 free backpacks and school supplies will be available to attendees while supplies last, and local organizations, volunteers and community leaders will be present to help families prepare for the upcoming school year.

The backpacks and school supplies are being donated thanks to a new partnership with Cook Children’s, a pediatric healthcare provider that has been serving North Texas for more than a century.

“Families should be excited for the new school year, and equipping them with school supplies gives children what they need to succeed,” said Becki Hale, Assistant Vice President, Cook Children’s Center for Community Health. “Every child has the potential to change the future, and academic success builds a solid foundation.”

The Boys & Girls Club of Sherman will also provide additional support at the event.

Sherman ISD would like to thank all of the participating organizations for their generous support of local students and families. Their continued investment deepens community connections and ensures students start strong for the school year.

“Local community partners play a vital role in supporting students and families, from providing relevant information to offering free services,” said Julie Kerr, director of Partners in Education. “The SISD Back to School Bash gives families the opportunity to connect with the community and all the support they may need."
