• As inclement weather and winter approaches, so does the potential for late start schedules and school closures. Here are some things to remember.

In the event of a late start:

    1. When weather situations arise, we consult multiple sources prior to making decisions on closing or delaying school activities, which may include communication with:

      a.    Local first responders
      b.    Transportation officials
      c.    Area school districts
      d.    Meteorology experts

    2. If a decision is made to close school or delay school, District officials will post notifications by 6 a.m. on the day of school.

    3. If a decision is made to end the day early or cancel after-school programs/activities, District officials will notify the public as soon as it’s appropriate.

    4. Media outlets for more information:
    • Sherman ISD Social Media:  Facebook and Twitter
    • Sherman ISD Alert System: SISD Connect Automated Call/Text/Email
      • We utilize SISD Connect to inform parents of campus events, specific school information and emergency notifications. Parents will automatically opt-in during student enrollment. If at any time you would like to stop receiving these messages, text, and calls, you can text STOP to 23177. Please note that opting out of this service will prevent you from receiving an emergency notification from our district. If you have previously enrolled and are not receiving messages, you can text the number 1222123 to 23177 to opt back in at any time. If you need any assistance with SISD Connect, please contact our Technology Help Desk at 903-891-TECH.
