Sherman ISD may make the decision to cancel school or delay the start of classes as a result of inclement weather.
In the event of a school closure or late start:
- When weather situations arise, we consult multiple sources prior to making decisions on closing or delaying school activities, which may include communication with:
- Local first responders
- Transportation officials
- Area school districts
- Meteorology experts
- If a decision is made to close or delay school, district officials will post notifications by 6 a.m. on the day of school through the communication channels listed below:
- Sherman ISD Mass Notification System: SISD Call/Text/Email (If your contact information has recently changed, please visit the SISD Parent Portal to update your information to receive district notifications.)
- Sherman ISD Social Media: Facebook, Twitter/X and Instagram
- If a decision is made to end the school day early or cancel after-school programs/activities, district officials will notify the public as soon as it’s appropriate through the following communication channels:

- Sherman ISD Social Media: Facebook, Twitter/X and Instagram
- Sherman ISD will always communicate with you first regarding any type of inclement weather delays or closings. The following media outlets will have information regarding current weather conditions in our area:
- Television Stations: KXII (Channel 12), KTEN (Channel 10), KXAS/NBC5 (Channel 5 in Fort Worth), WFAA (Channel 8 in Dallas), and KDFW (FOX 4 in Dallas).
- Radio Stations: K-MAD (102.5 FM), KMKT Katy Country (93.1 FM), KLAK (97.5), and HOT 107.3 FM.
- Newspaper: Herald Democrat
