State law requires children to be immunized against certain vaccine-preventable diseases to attend school in Texas. Getting your child vaccinated protects your child's health and that of the community. 

Students cannot go to school without the appropriate documentation for the required vaccines or a valid medical or conscientious exemption. This is required in order to find out a student’s teacher at Elementary Meet the Teacher Night or to pick up his or her class schedule at secondary schools.

Please note required vaccines, including the doses required, may vary in Texas from other states/countries. Depending on your child’s grade level, updated immunization records may be necessary for your child to start the new school year. This is most likely to impact your child if they are entering kindergarten or seventh grade. See these Frequently Asked Questions for more information.

State law describes the conditions under which individuals can seek exemptions from Texas immunization requirements. Exclusions from compliance are allowable on an individual basis for medical contraindications, active duty with the armed forces of the United States, and reasons of conscience, including a religious belief. 

Immunizations are available through your healthcare provider or clinic, including these community locations and the Grayson County Health Department.

Sherman ISD Back-to-School Vaccination Clinics

Sherman ISD will host back-to-school vaccination clinics in conjunction with Passport Health/Staying Healthy Medical Services. These clinics are being offered as a community service and should not replace a visit to your pediatrician. Staff and supplies are limited so the clinics may be discontinued if supplies or time runs out. We cannot guarantee that everyone will be seen.  

WHO: Only Sherman ISD students, age 3-18, may be vaccinated at the clinics. Older children who resist shots and children with special needs cannot be seen given the nature of these clinics. A parent or guardian must be present. Please bring a printed immunization record. 

WHEN: Saturday, July 20 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Monday, August 19 from 5 to 8 p.m.

WHERE: July 20: Sherman High School, 2907 W. Travis Street. August 19: Sherman Middle School, 2201 E. Lamar St.

VACCINES AVAILABLE: Chicken Pox, DtaP, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, HIB, Meningococcal, MMR, Polio, Pneumonia and TDaP 

PAYMENT: Select insurance, cash or Zelle accepted. No bills accepted over $20.

Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Humana & United Health Care PPO plans will be accepted. *We cannot accept Aetna & Blue Cross Gold, Silver, or Bronze plans or HMO plans with any insurance company. A paper photo copy of the insurance card and driver's license MUST be provided to receive vaccinations at no charge. Electronic copies cannot be accepted. 

Medicaid/CHIP: No charge for vaccines. Must provide a paper copy of card.

Uninsured: $10 per vaccine ($40 maximum per child).
