Orchestra

A female high school student plays a violin during a concert.

Sherman ISD offers the only orchestra program in Grayson County, and students can join the program starting in sixth grade. Middle school orchestra students learn the basics, such as finger placement and bow position, and have the opportunity to audition for All-Region spots and compete in Solo and Ensemble contests. They also perform in concert twice a year.

High school orchestra students expand their learning and have opportunities to learn from professional musicians in the Sherman Symphony Orchestra, and a few students have even played in the Symphony's concerts. Students participate in All-Region auditions, Solo and Ensemble contests and UIL Concert and Sight Reading.
