Welcome to 5th grade reading!

     This will be my 18th year to teach and my 3rd year in Sherman.  I am proud to say I earned both my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Elementary Education from East Central University in Oklahoma.  

    My husband and I moved to Sherman two years ago and really like it here.  I have three children, one in college, one in high school and one at Piner, so my evenings are busy with family activities.  

         I love learning and am curious about everything.  I love to read a wide variety of genre's and love to research to find out new information in whatever few minutes of spare time I can find.  

     We will learn many new concepts in reading this year and expand the knowledge base developed in elementary school.   We will cover characteristics of reading, plot, main idea, summary, theme, inferencing, drawing conclusions, and many other topics with a variety of genre's of litereature from fiction to poetry, and drama to informational text.  My goal is to strive to help each student learn as much as possible while developing a love of all things reading.

It's going to be a good year!
