Ambassador Academy
-
The Sherman ISD Ambassador Academy is designed to educate citizens interested in learning more about public education and Sherman ISD. The annual program will provide community members with a better understanding of the operations of the school district and create a foundation for active engagement and involvement in SISD. Participants will be provided with learning opportunities related to:
-
District governance, including the role of the School Board
-
School finance and management of district resources
-
Teaching, learning and student opportunities
-
School operations and support for students
-
Opportunities and challenges in Sherman ISD
-
Sherman’s growth and how it applies to the district
The goal is to create a community of informed leaders who are engaged in public education and can actively advocate for SISD students and staff. By the end of the program, ambassadors will be empowered to help educate the community about how public schools function, the unique needs of Sherman ISD and why our school district is a great place for students to learn and grow.
Program Details
The program is free and open to parents, community members, business, civic, and faith-based leaders, and others interested in gaining insight into SISD. Participants must live in Sherman ISD and be at least 18 years of age. SISD employees are not eligible to apply.
To receive the full benefit of the program, ambassadors are expected to attend and engage in all sessions. Spanish language translation will be available if needed.
