Mrs. Ashley McAdoo

Hello Everyone,

It is great to be here at Wakefield Elementary for the 2022-2023 school year as the Mustang PE teacher. This is my second year serving the students and community here at Wakefield. The purpose of this page is to give you a brief background of myself and a general idea of my personal philosophy on education as it applies to Health and Physical Education.

I grew up in East Texas, and I played sports throughout my childhood and still love to participate in a friendly game, no matter what sport, as an adult. I have run 15 half marathons, 10 marathons, and completed an Ironman Triathlon in a short time of 14 hours 29 minutes.  I graduated from Texas State University in May of 2010 and moved to Austin shortly after. Where I met my husband Spencer. We married in 2016 and in December of 2019 we welcomed our daughter Olivia into the world and in February 2022 we welcomed our son Maverick.  I attended graduate school at Southeastern Oklahoma State. Honestly though, being a momma is my favorite responsibility in adult life. My husband and I enjoy all the experiences and busyness that comes with having two young kids.

In my classes, I hope to encourage sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth, while incorporating math and reading. I find sports and exercise to be a great stress reliever, escape from frustrations, and an opportunity to strengthen one’s self no matter winning or losing. In Health and Wellness classes, I will promote the power of decision making and goal-setting as life skills and educate students on the importance of maintaining a healthy body and mind through positive behaviors. I believe in the value of arming kids with practical, lifelong health skills, which cross over subject matter and develop character.
