Welcome to first grade! I am so excited you are here!
I am a wife, mom of three, a photography nut and a huge book worm. My family and I are from the Missouri Ozarks (yep, just outside of Branson!) and have lived in Texas for almost five years. This is my third year as a teacher and my second year at Washington! I have a bachelors degree in behavioral science/psychology from Charter Oak State College and coursework completed towards a Masters in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington. I am EC-6 and ESL certified, and have had the opportunity to learn and grow through many various trainings throughout my career in education as well as foster care. A few of these trainings that have been impactful towards my career and ability to best serve the students and families I get to work with include: Trauma Informed Care, Love and Logic, Daily 5, Jan Richardson's Guided Reading and I am a Capturing Kids' Hearts 'Process Champion'. Prior to teaching, I was a social worker in the foster care system for many years and even spent a little time right out of college serving as the Director of Children’s Ministries in the church I grew up in. Working with children and families in some capacity is my calling and I am so very excited to finally be fulfilling my childhood dream of teaching.
I am very much looking forward to getting to know your child and your family this year and to partner with you in helping them grow, learn and develop a love for education. Please never hesitate to reach out to me if I can be of service for your student or family, or if you have questions, concerns or ideas.
