Visual Arts

  • The mission of the Sherman ISD Visual Arts department is to provide enriching experiences that engage students in relevant art skills and concepts, including artistic thought processes and creative problem solving, risk taking, and respect for student differences while promoting student and educator growth and a lifelong appreciation of art. Students will identify and investigate foundational skills of art elements, principles, and materials as the building blocks of art. opportunities to explore and express themselves through art production. Through aesthetic inquiry, discussion, and critique, students will develop a common vocabulary and a shared language of art. Student learning will actively explore art of historical, cultural, and current significance, and will make meaningful cross-curricular connections. Students will be exposed to a variety of tools such as technology and current learning strategies to encourage the creative, critical-thinking skills they will need to become lifelong learners and global citizens.
