Curriculum & Pacing

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) provides statewide curriculum standards, which detail what a student should know by course and grade level. These are called the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills or (TEKS).

The Texas State Board of Education (SBOE) has legislative authority to adopt the TEKS for each subject of the required curriculum. These elected leaders periodically review and revise the TEKS for each subject area.

Sherman ISD teachers are required to follow the TEKS, and SISD determines units of study, lesson plans, and pacing and assessment calendars based on what our students are expected to learn each school year. These are sometimes referred to as the scope and sequence for each course.

You can find SISD curriculum documents by accessing the button below. These contain the order in which the curriculum is generally covered.

TEACHING & LEARNING PARENT PORTAL

As you go through these documents on the Parent Portal, you will see numbers and letters that correspond with specific standards or TEKS covered in a unit or subject. Access the TEKS to learn more about the corresponding concepts and skills.
