Curriculum & Pacing
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) sets statewide curriculum standards, which detail what a student should know by course and grade level. These are called the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills or (TEKS). Sherman ISD teachers follow the TEKS, and SISD units of study, lesson plans, and pacing and assessment calendars are developed based on what our students are expected to learn each school year.
The Texas State Board of Education (SBOE) has legislative authority to adopt the TEKS for each subject of the required curriculum. These elected leaders periodically review and revise the TEKS for each subject area.
