Transition Services
Discussion about transition services begins when a student under an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) turns 16 with appropriate goals set by the Admission Review and Dismissal (ARD) Committee, and transition services are provided up until 21 years of age or when a student receives their high school diploma.
The Sherman ISD transition program, called ACES (Adult Continuing Education Services), is housed at Jefferson Learning Center and serves students 18+. The program focuses on community-based instruction and work-based learning through hands-on experience. ACES is intended to bolster independence, self-advocacy, vocational skills, and social integration.
