Early Childhood Special Education
Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) is a state and federally mandated program for young children with disabilities ages 3-5. Children with a disability and need for support may receive free services at one of our early childhood centers. Instruction is based on each student’s individual needs following an evaluation.
Many staff members may work together to ensure the best education for a student, ranging from a diagnostician, speech language pathologist, special education teacher and more. Goals and objectives may include fine motor activities, cognitive games and puzzles, intense language activities, self-help training, technology training and gross motor activities. Students can enroll as early as 3 years old, and parents are encouraged to be active in all phases of their child's education.
Early Childhood Intervention Services
Do you have concerns about the development of a child younger than 36 months? Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) is a statewide program that supports families with children with developmental delays, disabilities or certain medical diagnoses that may impact development. Visit the Texas Health and Human Services Commission website to see if your child may qualify for services.
