Functional Opportunities in Communication and Utilizing Social Skills (FOCUS)

In the FOCUS Program, students receive instruction and support in these key areas:

• Academic Skills: Building skills in reading, writing, math, communication, and other foundational areas.
• Communication Skills: Developing expressive and receptive communication through various methods and supports.
• Social & Emotional Skills: Learning to recognize emotions, build positive relationships, and make appropriate choices.
• Independent Living Skills: Practicing daily living skills such as personal care, routines, and self-help.
• Functional Behavior Skills: Using positive strategies to promote success and reduce barriers to learning.
• Community Skills: Exploring the community and practicing skills for real-life situations.

Our classrooms are designed to provide structure, support, and meaningful learning experiences. A typical day may include:

• Structured Instruction: Targeted lessons aligned to IEP goals.
• Small-Group Learning: Hands-on instruction in small groups.
• Communication Opportunities: Using AAC, visuals, and other supports to build communication.
